The Record reported on March 23, 1990 that the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers had given final approval to a $2.9 million project aimed at preventing Overpeck Creek from flooding in south Englewood.
The project – under review for five years – called for construction of a flood wall and the widening of a channel to protect several hundred acres that lie in a flood plain, the paper reported.
